Richard J. Sullivan

Richard J. Sullivan is a Founder and Managing Partner of Sullivan & Sullivan LLP. He concentrates his practice on complex personal injury matters, including construction site accidents, product liability claims, and wrongful death actions. Since establishing the firm in 1998, he has represented clients in courts throughout Massachusetts and New England, earning a reputation as a skilled trial lawyer with a record of achieving substantial verdicts and settlements.

Before founding the firm, Richard served as Assistant Staff Counsel for Travelers Insurance in Boston, and as an Assistant District Attorney in Suffolk and Bristol Counties. He has tried more than one hundred jury trials and has supervised and trained new attorneys in trial practice.

Richard is a graduate of Suffolk University Law School (J.D., 1987) and Boston College (B.A., 1982). He is a member of the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys, the Massachusetts Bar Association, and the American Association for Justice. He is recognized as a Massachusetts Super Lawyer (2019–2025).

Beyond his practice, Richard is active in the community. He co-founded The Giving Tree Foundation, which raises funds to support treatment and research for children with brain injuries, and served on the Board of Directors of the Franciscan Hospital for Children in Boston. He is also an incorporator of Cambridge Savings Bank and a member of the Dean College Business Advisory Board. In his personal time, he enjoys golf and spending time with his family in the Boston area.
